We’re really proud to share that we’re partnering with Pepala, a brilliant UK-based organisation that’s all about turning surplus into opportunity. Through their work, resources that might otherwise go unused are given a new purpose, supporting education and wellbeing for children in Malawi.
Pepala actually means “paper” in Chichewa, the national language of Malawi, which feels pretty perfect, because for many children there, a single sheet of paper is a luxury. Classrooms can be overcrowded, sometimes with 200 to 300 students learning under the open sky, with one teacher doing their best to keep everyone engaged (we think they deserve a medal and a holiday!).
Pepala’s next big shipment in 2026, will be heading to two primary schools in the Mangochi District: Nsanga and Kwiputi. where donated items such as stationery, reusable water bottles, coffee cups, small toys and sports equipment will help foster wellbeing, inclusion, and joy.
Working with their Programme Manager, Imran, and an amazing local team on the ground, Pepala makes sure every single item goes where it’s needed most. Once it’s all packed here in the UK, Apex Cargo steps in to ship it off, and from there local volunteers take over to deliver the donations straight into the hands of students and teachers.
We’re genuinely thrilled to play a small part in Pepala’s mission. What might be “just a bit of extra stock” here in the UK becomes something life-changing for a child in Malawi a tool for learning, a reason to smile, or even a spark of inspiration.
At its core, this partnership shows how sustainability and kindness can work hand in hand. We love the idea that by giving surplus stock a second life, we’re helping the planet and helping people, it’s a win-win (or as we like to say, a feel-good double whammy). Every item tells a story of care, connection and shared humanity.
As we grow, we want to keep that spirit alive: doing small things that add up to something big. Whether it’s rethinking waste, reusing resources, or reaching out to make a difference beyond our borders, we’re proud to be part of something that truly matters. Together with Pepala, we’re proving that even surplus can spark something extraordinary and maybe even a few smiles along the way.
